What Tools Do You Use To Cope?
My tools to cope? Hmmm I think more than anything and I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing is I alway remember that I'm blessed and that someone has it worse than I do. That doesn't change my pain, but helps me to remember that everyday is a gift and for those of us with all these conditions I know get scared from time to time wondering "if this is it?" No matter how dramatic that may be. Another way to cope are all these items help me transfer any negative energy I may have. I'm human it happens sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Bio
Sarita "Atlas" Mills
I am a 35 year old Visual artist born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Starting from a young age my life revolved around art; drawing cartoon characters, writing bubble letters, even drawing on my classmates clothes while in class. In middle school I had the opportunity to attend classes at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and in high school I had my art displayed in the halls. I was a resident artist at The Meroe Gallery in Baltimore in 2010, a part of "Becoming" an art-show for students at the Community College of Baltimore County in 2013 and in 2014 was accepted into The Corcoran College of art and Design as a Photography/ Art education major.
I believe my inspiration for all things custom started with my mother. She never let me "follow the crowd", making sure I had what I needed, but not what everyone else had. As a child I couldn't see the benefit in that, but as an adult I realize it has made me the Artist I am today. So now I've dedicated myself to my artistic endeavors not only personally but also as a living. I work in a variety of mediums choosing not to limit myself. A good portion of my art is based on feelings and emotions. In order for me to feel a piece or pieces are successful I must feel some sort of deep connection. Without that in my opinion no piece can truly convey what I was thinking or feeling while I was creating. I tend to create pieces that are not always as they appear on the surface. I like to invite the viewers to have their own personal experience with my works. I mostly leave my pieces untitled because I feel by adding a name to a piece it somehow puts the viewers thoughts and perception of the piece in a box.
In an effort to share my art with the world in 2007 I started 360S3V3N Customs©; specializing in hand painted wearable art and accessories. In 2015 I decided to expand the brand beyond wearable art and renamed it NonStop HeART Customs©. NonStop HeART now encompasses all things artistic that I love; from painting, drawing and even photography. I am dedicated to creating one of a kind custom artwork for my own pleasure as well as my customers through NonStop HeART Customs©. So if you're looking for a piece that is hand painted whether it be apparel. paintings, drawings, home decor, footwear or accessories I got you covered. Some of my other artistic endeavours include SLM Photography©, Manor IV08©, Platonic HeART©, Royal Dinosaur© and new for 2016 Pop Ruby©
I do commission work upon request, so please don't hesitate to contact me for a one of a kind piece.
